Slow, concentric lifting depletes more muscle glycogen than fast-paced lifting. When you deplete glycogen during resistance training, you build up the lactic acid levels in your blood. Increased lactic acid levels cause increases in growth hormones, powerful fat burning hormones.

In sum:  lift slowly to burn more fat.
